CAIHS Monday Morning Message
March 25, 2024
PBIS Day
Last week our PBIS team held a celebration day for all students. Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports is an evidence-based three-tiered framework to improve and integrate all of the data that effects students’ academics, behavior and social emotional skills.
The 2nd Annual Students vs Faculty basketball took place and at half time we had a musical chairs scavenger hunt at mid court for the entertainment. Kendrick Stukes was the scavenger hunt winner and he really worked hard with his classmates to find the missing pieces to the puzzle.
The basketball game was an exciting back and forth game in the first half until the teachers started turning the ball over and the basketball team capitalized on their mistakes. In the end a very good basketball team won by 15, but the teachers have vowed to actually practice next year for the game. Good sportsmanship was had and the overall goal of having fun was achieved.
Once again thank you to our PBIS Team for such an amazing event.

Girls Flag Football and a Partnership with the Eagles
Last week our Girls Flag Football team and their coaches had an amazing opportunity from the Philadelphia Eagles. As part of the team's ongoing commitment to grow the game of flag football, the Eagles hosted their 3rd annual Girls High School Flag Football Jamboree. The girls walked the field of Lincoln Financial Field and in the locker rooms. They had the opportunity to meet and Eagle and when they went into the locker room their jerseys were hanging in a locker for them. What a great experience they had, and thank you Mr. Glass and Ms. Turner for taking them down to Philadelphia and being awesome coaches.

6 Short Weeks Until the PSSA's and 8 Weeks until the Keystones Exams
CAIHS Families,
The upcoming State Assessments are quickly approaching. The PSSA's provide us with an understanding of student and school performance related to the attainment of proficiency for the 8th Grade on level academic standards. Last year as a school we scored 30% Proficient/Advanced in ELA, 10% Proficient/Advanced in Math and, 32% Proficient/Advanced in Science. As you can see we have a lot of room for growth. We have been working hard in all areas to address our areas of need and to improve our scores as well as overall growth from year to year progress. Because of our scores we are on an Improvement Plan for the PA Department of Education to improve scores and attendance. It is extremely important for our students to try their best when taking the exams to show their true knowledge and because we can also track and teach to their areas of need. We will continue to send out information on the PSSA's and Keystone Exams.
Pathways to Graduation Information
Please see the Powerpoint for the Pathways to Graduation. In order to graduate with a diploma in Pennsylvania students have to complete one of these pathways.
